Amanda Schmitz broke a pool record on Sunday

HAMILTON, N.Y. - The Boston University women's swimming and diving team defeated Colgate, 148-95, on Sunday afternoon. Amanda Schmitz, Meaghan Grimes, and the 200-free relay all claimed pool records en route to the victory. In all, BU won nine events - including seven individual races.

The quartet of Kendra Cheng, Kristen Connors, Kirsten Tullis and Liz Floyd set the tone for the meet with a win in the 200-yard medley relay race with a time of one minutes, 47.08 seconds. Following that, Grimes set the pool record in the 1,000 free with a time of 10:17.47. Not to be outdone, Schmitz later recorded a pool record of her own in the 200 fly, clocking in at 2:03.24.

In the 50 free, Maria McIntyre touched first with a time of 24.08, while Tullis claimed second with a time of 24.25.

Schmitz won her second individual race of the day in the 400 IM (4:27.69), while Cheng won the 100 fly in 53.03 and Connors won the 200 breast in 2:21.76.

In the diving events, Melinda Matyas won the 3M with a score of 280.05 and placed second on the 1M with a score of 245.09.

To close out the meet BU won the 200-yard free relay in 1:36.34 - also a pool record. Lauren Drake swam the lead off leg, followed by Floyd, Tullis, and McIntyre.

Before hosting the Terrier Invitational from Nov. 19-21, BU will continue with its road stretch with two more meets: Stony Brook (Nov. 12) and Fordam (Nov. 13).
