BOSTON - The Boston University women's soccer team will host the athletic department's annual Terrier Tailgate on Sunday, August 29, prior to the start of its game against the University of Washington at Nickerson Field. The annual kickoff to the school year is in its fourth season and this year's event marks the second time it will occur prior to a women's soccer match.

The gates open at 7 p.m. with pre-game entertainment provided for all fans in attendance. Game time is 8 p.m. Festivities will include a replica jersey giveaway for the first 500 fans, free ice cream for all and a postgame laser show. Fans that are in their seats early will enjoy a special game ball delivery as a part of the pregame ceremonies.

Ticket Information: All students with a BU ID, along with accompanying family and friends, will receive free admission to the game. Tickets for the general public will cost $5 for adults and $2 for youth (children 12 and under).

The successful event has drawn record crowds for both the men's and women's soccer teams. In 2008 a record crowd of 5,935 was the largest ever to take in a regular-season college soccer game at BU and in the state of Massachusetts. In 2007, BU drew 5,111 fans to the game, which was the eighth-largest crowd in the country for a men's soccer game that year. Last year's affair brought in 4,963 fans - a program record - to Nickerson to watch the women defeat UMass, 2-0.

The Terriers already have two games under their belt - back-to-back losses to No. 12 South Carolina and No. 2 Stanford.

Sunday's game will mark the first meeting between BU and Washington.
