BOSTON - Despite wins from half its lineup, the Boston University wrestling team dropped a close 20-16 decision to Maryland on Friday afternoon at Case Gym. The Terriers move to 2-4 on the year and will return to action next weekend at the CAA Duals.

The teams traded wins for the first six matches, but the Terrapins picked up bonus points with a pin and a major decision to hold a 13-9 lead with four matches remaining.

Junior Fred Santaite got the Terriers within one at 13-12 when he earned a 10-5 victory over Joey Boone at 133 thanks to three first-period takedowns.

Maryland picked up another major decision at 141, as BU's Jordan Frease dropped an 8-0 match to Jon Kohler in his collegiate debut.

Sophomore Nestor Taffur answered with a major decision for the Terriers at 149, posting a 9-1 victory against Dex Lederer to make it a 17-16 match.

Freshman Nick Tourville wrestled well against nationally ranked Kyle John at 157, but John earned a 6-0 win to seal the team victory for the Terrapins.

Sophomore Hunter Meys registered a 3-1 win at 174 over Alex Pagnotta and junior John Hall blanked Dallas Brown, 5-0, thanks to a four-point move.

In the first match of the day, sophomore Kyle Czarnecki was pinned by Josh Asper at 2:02 of their 165 match. Senior Bran Crudden dropped a 4-0 decision at 184 to Corey Peltier.
