Women's Cross Country Competes in Mayor's Cup

BOSTON - Six members of the Boston University women’s cross country team competed at the 2011 Mayor’s Cup on Sunday afternoon at Franklin Park, as the Terriers prep for the upcoming America East Championship.

Junior Marita Stressenger led the way for BU, as she finished in 56th place with a time of 19:31. As a team, the Terriers claimed eighth place and were second among Division I schools. The race was comprised of collegiate and non-collegiate athletes with various affiliations.

Senior Anna Lukes finished with a time of 19:46, which was good for 66th place. Behind her was sophomore Danielle Bowen, who crossed the finish line in 72nd place with a time of 20:04. Rounding out the Terrier runners were freshman Ashli Tagoai (20:09, 75th place) and juniors Bree Potter (21:26, 82nd) and Kristen Cole (22:32, 91st).

Up next for BU is the America East Championship on Saturday at Albany, N.Y. The Terriers will race at 10:30 a.m.
