BOSTON - After not receiving an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament, the Boston University women’s soccer team’s 2012 season has come to a close.

The Terriers claimed their sixth straight, and 10th overall, America East regular season title after posting a perfect 8-0-0 mark for the fifth time in program history. Overall, BU concluded the season with a 12-6-1 record and extended its winning streak against America East opponents to 32 consecutive games.

Banned from the America East tournament due to the school’s move to the Patriot League in 2013, the Terriers were unable to compete for their sixth consecutive America East championship crown and the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.

“While we are disappointed that we did not make the NCAA tournament through an at-large bid, I feel really good about this season and what the team accomplished,” said 18th-year head coach Nancy Feldman. “While the America East ban did not allow us to play for the automatic bid through the conference tournament, finishing the regular season undefeated and as the regular season conference champions and competing as well as we did with a challenging non-conference schedule, certainly qualifies our 2012 season as a successful campaign. We are excited to move on to new challenges next fall in the Patriot League.”

The Terriers led the America East with eight all-conference honorees, including three first team selections. Senior Jessica Morrow was named Defender of the Year while junior Emma Clark was selected as Midfielder of the Year. The Terriers coaching staff garnered Coaching Staff of the Year accolades for the fourth time in the last five seasons.

Junior Madison Clemens joined Clark and Morrow on the All-Conference First Team while juniors Megan McGoldrick, Erin Mullen and sophomore Ana Cuffia were named to the second team. Freshmen McKenzie Hollenbaugh and Clare Pleuler earned All-Rookie honors.
