PHILADELPHIA - Three losses by a combined four points proved to be critical for the Boston University wrestling team, as the Terriers fell to Drexel, 22-12, on Friday evening at the Daskalakis Athletic Center.

Junior Kevin Innis (285), junior Nick Tourville (149), redshirt junior Nestor Taffur (157) and sophomore Mitchell Wightman (165) each earned victories for the Terriers, who move to 7-5 overall and 1-4 in CAA duals.

Drexel held a 16-12 lead with two matches remaining and went on to win each of them by a single point to pick up the win and improve to 7-9 (3-2 CAA).

BU conceded six points right at the start of the match due to a forfeit at 197. Innis responded with an 8-3 triumph over Jon Max Wright to cut the deficit to 6-3.

The Dragons, however, reeled off three straight wins at 125, 133 and 141 to take a commanding 16-3 lead.

Junior Bubba McGinley (125) suffered a 12-5 loss in a major decision against Jacob Goodwin before classmate B.J. Suitor was edged, 4-2, at 133 by Jordan Hart. Sophomore Tyler Scotton was defeated at 141, 7-1, by Frank Cimato.

BU got right back into the match by responding with three straight victories of its own. Tourville was impressive in a 5-1 win at 149 over Joshua Yurasitis and Taffur picked up his 26th victory of the season in a 6-3 victory versus Austin Sommer at 157. Wightman cut the Dragons' lead to 16-12 following his 8-2 decision over Connor Moran at 165.

The Dragons would prevent the comeback though with two narrow wins. Senior Kyle Czarnecki came up just short at 174 in a 6-5 loss to Kevin Matyasa while redshirt sophomore Alex Najjar suffered a hard-fought 3-2 loss at 184 due to riding time.

The Terriers will take a week off from competition before returning to action on Sunday, Feb. 10, with a visit to West Point to take on Army and American. The first match will start at 2 p.m.
