BOSTON - Continuing a four-match homestand, the Boston University men's tennis team earned a 6-1 victory over Bryant on Sunday afternoon at the Track & Tennis Center. Snapping a two-match losing streak to the Bulldogs (3-4) after two 5-2 defeats last season, the Terriers improve to 4-0.
BU won five of the six singles matches and two of the three doubles contests against a Bulldog squad selected to finish second in the Northeast Conference.
Senior Josh Friedman led the Terriers at the top singles slot with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Zack Morris. Junior Jesse Frieder won a hard-fought first set against Max Vogt at No. 3 and then rolled in the second for the 7-5, 6-2 victory.
Sophomore Emilio Teran, freshman Stefan Lemire and freshman Brandon Phan also won in straight sets for the Terriers. Teran topped Ernesto Arguello, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 4, while Lemire dropped the fewest amount of games at No. 5 in a 6-1, 6-2 win against Juan Gonzalez-Paz.
Phan finished off the Bulldogs in the No. 6 spot with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Guillaume Sanbourin.
Earlier in doubles, Frieder and Teran earned an 8-5 win at No. 2, while Lemire and senior Michael Kopelman rolled to an 8-2 victory in the No. 3 slot.
The Terriers will remain home and next host Lafayette on Sunday, Feb. 24, at 12 p.m.
