Softball Drops Rubber Match at Binghamton, 8-0

VESTAL, N.Y. - Concluding a 26-game road trip, the Boston University softball team dropped an 8-0 decision at Binghamton on Sunday afternoon. Winning the weekend series after the squads exchanged one-run victories a day prior, the Bearcats improve to 11-10 (2-1 AE), while the Terriers fall to 9-16-1 (1-2 AE).

Following three scoreless innings, Binghamton recorded eight runs over the next three innings, including three in the sixth to earn the run-rule victory. Recording six strikeouts against one walk, Demi Laney (4-4) held the Terriers to four hits with junior Megan Volpano singling to the outfield twice.

Senior Whitney Tuthill (7-9) allowed two runs and eight hits in a 3-2 win on Saturday, but in the second go-around, Binghamton managed five runs off six hits. The Bearcats added a three-run homer against senior Erin Schuppert.

The Terriers will next come home to the BU Softball Field and host Connecticut on Wednesday (April 3) with first pitch set for 4 p.m.
