After winning the CAA Championship and earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships on Sunday, the Boston University women's rowing team's varsity eight boat was named GoTerriers.com Student-Athlete of the Week.
Heading into the final race of the CAA Championship on Sunday in Occoquan, Va., the Terriers' varsity eight boat, coxed by junior Sarah Specht and stroked by senior Caroline Kimberly, needed a first-place finish in the six-team race for the Terriers to win the championship.
Finishing with the silver in 2012, the boat delivered in dramatic fashion by defeating rival Northeastern by two seconds to give BU a total of 32 points, enough to earn the CAA crown and the coveted automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.
The other six members of the boat were senior Gabby Cutler, junior Lynn Ratte, junior Kerry Kennedy, junior Alex Gustafson, sophomore Kelly Jackson, junior Mackenzie Wiler and senior Caitlin Trillo.
