CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Junior Paul Gennaro of the Boston University men's cross country team was named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team, the conference announced on Monday.

This is the first such honor for Gennaro, who carried a 3.80 grade-point average while majoring in mechanical engineering. He was terrific in competition as well, highlighted by a pair of top-five finishes early in the season. Gennaro began the year with a third-place performance at the Nassaney Invitational before taking fifth in his next race, the Ted Owen Invitational.

The Abington, Pennsylvania, native helped BU finish above its projected place at the Patriot League Championship with a top-30 time and was also in the top 50 at the New England Championship. Gennaro was also honored last year for his academic prowess as he made the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.

To be eligible for the Corvias Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and the Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and have competed at the Patriot League Championship. Freshmen or students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor.

BU will be in action on Friday (Nov. 14) when the Terriers compete at the NCAA Northeast Regional, hosted at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, New York.
