BOSTON -
The Boston University women's basketball team dropped a 58-37 decision to Boston College on Saturday afternoon in Case Gym. Both teams limited scoring throughout the contest for a solid defensive performance on both ends.
BU (0-3) looks toward Tuesday for the first road game of the season at Harvard on Tuesday night to round out competition against the Beanpot schools.
Outside shooting was to blame for the point discrepancy, as the Eagles went 6-of-18 from long-range while the Terriers were denied any three-pointers.
Sophomore Erin Bayram had a career day, scoring a personal best eight points while collecting a career-high five rebounds. Classmate Kara Sheftic led the team with nine points and six rebounds.
Play was fairly even in the paint with BC edging BU in scoring, 28-22 and rebounds 37-33.
The Terriers had a slow start to the game but started to make up for it in the second quarter, coming within three points before the Eagles went on a 13-4 run to end the first half and go into halftime with a 31-19 lead.
BU struggled to score throughout the third period and didn't find its first points until the end, as Sheftic netted a jumper with one minute remaining in the quarter, though at that point BC commanded a 27 point lead, its largest of the game.
BU pressured for the remainder of the game, led by Sheftic and Bayram, but it wasn't enough to overcome the deficit and the Terriers settled for a 58-37 loss.
