BALTIMORE - The Boston University women's basketball team couldn't hold on to its halftime lead and were overcome by Loyola, 66-55 on Saturday morning in Reitz Arena. The Terriers put together one of its best offensive efforts of the season, shooting over 42 percent from the field, but it wasn't enough to out-do the Greyhound's 3-point shooting, which accounted for nearly half of their points.

Troi Melton led BU with 15 points, one shy of her career-high, while Kara Sheftic scored 13 points including 5-of-5 shooting from the free-throw line. Mollie McKendrick rounded out double-digit scorers with 11 points against Loyola.

Colleen Marshall was trouble for the Terriers as she scored a career high 35 points going 7-for-11 from beyond the arc and 10-of-11 from the charity stripe. Overall, Loyola went 10-for-26 from long range.

BU shot 42.6 percent overall, the sixth time this year the Terriers have shot better than 42 percent from the field. The Terriers held the Greyhounds to under 33 percent overall but its 38.5 percent 3-point performance would ultimately decide the game.

Boston U. dominated the paint on both ends, outscoring Loyola 24-12 and outrebounding the Greyhounds 43-34. Of Loyola's 34 boards, however, 12 were offensive which led to 13 points for the Greyhounds.

Turnovers were again costly for BU, who committed 22 to Loyola's seven. The Greyhounds scored 22 points off of Terrier miscues.

BU started off strong, opening the game on a 7-2 run but Marshall hit two consecutive three-pointers to delete the Terrier's advantage. Boston U. didn't relent, however, and found its largest lead of the game, five points, less than four minutes into the contest.

Loyola kept pace with the Terriers for the rest of the half, however, and the lead changed twice more before it settled on BU to close the half, 25-24.

The Greyhounds opened the second half by hitting four 3-pointers within a 16-5 run. The Terriers couldn't get within more than five points for the remainder of the game, however, and dropped a 66-55 decision to Loyola.

BU returns home for a Wednesday night affair with American. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. in Case Gym.
