BALTIMORE--Despite an even offensive effort throughout the game, the Boston University team could not gain an advantage over Loyola Maryland and settled for a 63-54 loss on Saturday afternoon in Reitz Arena.

The Terriers (1-16, 1-5 PL) shot better from the field and tallied more field goals than the Greyhounds (7-10, 4-2 PL) but Loyola's 13 makes from the charity stripe and zero chances for BU ultimately decided the result.

Meghan Green recorded her second double-double of the season with a start-to-finish performance, ending with 19 points and 11 rebounds. She was the only Terrier to reach double-figure scoring, though late makes from long-range gave Sarah Hope nine points on the day, the team's next best total.

Overall, the Terriers shot 24-for-54 (44.4 percent) and 6-for-13 from beyond the arc (46.2 percent). The Greyhounds went 22-for-60 from the floor and 6-for 21 from long range. Loyola gained an advantage on the free throw line, going 13-for-16 while BU was never afforded a chance from the charity stripe.

The Greyhounds were led by Jeneh Perry, who totaled 18 points and 17 rebounds on the day while classmate Colleen Marshall finished with 19 points and five steals.

The game got off to a slow start but some early luck from beyond the arc for Loyola gave them the lead throughout the first quarter, going up by as much as seven points in the period.

The Terriers fought back in the second quarter, however, and used an 11-2 run over the first five minutes to tie the game at 22-22. The Greyhounds were not willing to give BU the lead, though, and fought back to regain its seven-point advantage going into halftime.

Loyola continued its momentum into the third quarter where the Greyhounds gradually built their lead until they reached a 14-point advantage with less than one minute to play in the period.

BU made its best efforts to cut into the advantage and got it down to a seven-point differential by the middle of the period but Loyola did not relent and the Terriers settled for an end result of 63-54.

The Terriers are back in action at home on Wednesday, Jan. 20 when Colgate visits Case Gym for a 7 p.m. game that will be aired live on the Patriot League Network.
