PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Competing in its first match of the dual season, the Boston University men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision at Brown.
The Bears (2-1) won all three doubles matches by a combined score of 18-5 for the first point and then claimed five of six singles points against the Terriers (0-1).
BU battled Brown to the end, winning at least five games in each of the singles contests. Freshman Satyajit Simhadri led the Terriers at No. 5 by rallying from a set down to dispatch Lucas Da Silveira, 2-6, 7-6, 1-0.
Junior Mario Sandoval almost forced a third set but dropped the second-set tiebreaker in a 6-3, 7-6 loss at No. 3. Senior Stefan Lemire (#1), junior Jake De Vries (#6) and junior Jay Leelavanich (#4) came up two games short of winning a set in their respective singles match.
The Terriers will next play against Sacred Heart in East Hartford, Conn., on Saturday (Jan. 30) at 1 p.m.
