BALTIMORE, Md. – Facing a two-goal deficit early in the second half, the Boston University men's soccer team used a strike from senior Mark Wadid and senior Felix De Bona's first multi-goal performance of the season to post a 3-3 draw at Loyola Maryland on Saturday afternoon.
Brian Saramago led the Greyhounds with a hat trick, but the Terriers were able to rally and avoid a loss when allowing three or more goals for the first time since a 3-3 draw at Brown in 2009.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Saramago gave Loyola its first lead at 29:52 when he took advantage of a miscommunication in the BU defense and headed in a long service pass from Brennan Goldsmith past senior goalkeeper Matt Gilbert.
- Barry Sharifi intercepted a clearing kick from Gilbert near midfield and immediately went into counter attack mode to set up Saramago for a hard 20-yard shot and 2-0 lead at 50:19.
- Nine minutes later, the Greyhounds made a mistake of their own when they stopped senior Felix De Bona's shot attempt and cleared the ball right to senior Mark Wadid, who rifled the ball from the right side of the box to cut the deficit in half.
- In the 70th minute, Loyola fouled the Terriers just outside the box, and De Bona made the Greyhounds pay with a beautiful high and curling free kick toward the left post to tie the game, 2-2.
- Less than three minutes later, the Greyhounds retook the lead after Saramago sent a low shot inside the right post past Gilbert with assists to Barry Sharifi and Jake Campbell.
- De Bona struck again at 79:18 by heading in a 40-yard free kick from junior Adam Sheikali.
- Both teams had five shots apiece in overtime, but Gilbert had the only save to preserve the tie.
GAME NOTES
- De Bona netted two goals for the second time in his career and the first time since last year's 2-1 home win over Holy Cross.
- With his 19th and 20th-career goals, De Bona moved into second place on the team with five goals and 10 points.
- Wadid became the sixth different Terrier to score a goal this season.
- Both squads finished with nine corner kicks, while Loyola held a 19-17 lead in shot attempts.
- Gilbert finished with four saves against Joseph Nichols' three stops.
- The Terriers moved to 3-1-3 all-time against the Greyhounds and posted a draw at Loyola for the second time in three years after the Greyhounds used a 90th-minute score to escape with a draw in 2014.
- The Greyhounds entered the contest as the lone unbeaten team in Patriot League play after claiming a 1-0 road win at preseason favorite American, who earlier claimed a 2-0 victory at BU.
