BOSTON - The Boston University men's swimming & diving team opened the three-day Terrier Invitational on Friday at the Competition Pool.
BU finished day one in third place with 235 points. Boston College leads with 336 points, followed by Army West Point (308) in second.
The Terriers took second in the 200 freestyle relay, as
Quinn Smith,
Matt Traub,
Jake Goroshko and
Brian Habacivch combined for a time of 1:22.83. Traub, Smith and Habacivch then teamed with
Daniel Andronov to finish fifth in the 400 medley relay (3:22.85).
Garrett Chin placed second in the finals of the 200 IM thanks to a time of 1:50.34, while Habacivch was fifth in the finals of the 50 freestyle. In the finals of the 500 freestyle,
Trevor Winans took third (4:28.79) and
Tommy Hagerty secured sixth (4:34.40).Â
During the 1-meter diving competition,
Cameron Schoffstall posted the best BU score at 276.80 for a third-place result in the finals.
David Thiede and
Eric Mitchell placed fifth and sixth, respectively.
BU will return to the Competition Pool for day two of the Terrier Invitational on Saturday.
