SAN DIEGO - Before participating in UC Riverside's Mizuno Invitational, the Boston University softball team will continue its spring break trip with midweek games at San Diego State and Loyola Marymount.

Highlighted by an 11-4 win over Utah Valley, the Terriers (4-8) went 1-2 this past weekend at the rain-shortened San Diego Classic. They will face the Aztecs (11-7) on Tuesday in a single game at 9 p.m. ET and then the Lions (11-6) on Thursday in a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m. ET.

TERRIER TIDBITS
• Through 12 games, the Terriers are out-hitting opponents .244 against .237 ... Four of the eight losses have been by one run while all four victories have been by four or more runs.
• Junior Brittany Younan leads BU in hitting at .341 with five RBIs and five runs scored ... Freshman Alex Heinen (.333 avg) owns a team-high .400 slugging percentage with team-high six RBIs and two doubles.
• Junior Moriah Connolly (.302 avg) is the third Terrier above .300 and is a perfect 7-of-7 in stolen base attempts.
• Freshman Emily Morrow (.267 avg) is one of 41 batters across the nation who have yet to strike out this season.
• Defensively, BU owns a .950 fielding percentage compared to opponents' .924 percentage.     
• Senior Lauren Hynes (3-3, 2.81 ERA) has appeared in the circle in 10 of the 12 games and is limiting opponents to a .221 batting average ... On Saturday, she tied a career high with nine strikeouts against Utah Valley.

SCOUTING OPPONENTS 

San Diego State, 11-7 (Tuesday, March 8, 9 p.m. ET)
• BU lost the only meeting to SDSU (6-0) in 2002 in Fresno, Calif.
• The Aztecs also went 1-2 this past weekend at the San Diego Classic despite opening the tournament with an impressive 10-5 win over No. 9 Texas A&M ... They lost to Illinois-Chicago (6-4) and Saint Joseph's (3-1).
• SDSU is 5-3 at home this year with a 2-1 win over then-No. 22 California ... Their other loss came against then-No. 18 Kentucky.
• SDSU is batting .313 while holding teams to .275 ... Jenavee Peres is batting an impressive .560 with four homers, 11 RBIs and 14 runs scored ... Zaria Meshack (.425 avg) has scored 12 times, while Katie Byrd (.378 avg) has a team-high 15 RBIs.
• All four Aztec pitchers have made at least four starts this season ... Erica Romero (6-2, 3.33 ERA) owns a team-high 44 strikeouts in 48.1 innings ... Alex Formby (3-3, 3.59 ERA) is holding batters to a .216 average.  

Loyola Marymount, 11-6 (Doubleheader - Thursday, March 10, 3 p.m. ET)
• Loyola Marymount and BU will be meeting for the first time in program history.
• The Lions had all four games this past weekend at Sacramento State's Hornet Round Robin canceled by rain ... They are riding a three-game win streak and have outscored opponents, 30-5, with an 8-3 win over then-No. 20 Fresno State.
• Loyola Marymount is 2-0 at home after claiming a double-header sweep over Saint Peter's, 8-0 and 14-2, back on March 1.
• The Lions are batting .334 while limiting opponents to .278 avg ... Five different Lions have at least 10 RBIs while nine have at least one homer ... Six individuals are batting at least .365 with Shianne Ybarra leading the way at .538 with 10 RBIs and five doubles.
• Rachael Farrington (5-3, 3.16 ERA) and Hannah Bandimere (6-3, 3.23 ERA) have started in 16 of the 17 games ... Farrington limits opponents to .251 avg., while Bandimere owns a team-high 36 strikeouts.
