BOULDER CITY, Nev. -
Paced by senior Emily Tillo's record round, the Boston University golf team set a new school record on the opening day of the Battle at Boulder Creek hosted by Bucknell at Boulder Creek Golf Club.

Tillo fired a four-under 68 for the lowest round in program history. She is the second Terrier to shoot under 70, as Adela Cejnarova did so twice in 2013 and most recently on Oct. 13, 2014. Sophomore Phyllis Tang was also under par thanks to a one-under 71. It is the first time that two Terriers broke par in the same round.

Buoyed by Tillo and Tang, the Terriers combined for a program-low score of 290, breaking the previous record of 291 that was set on Sept. 13, 2014, at the Dartmouth Invitational. BU then went on to shoot a 307 in the second round to finish the day in second behind UNLV with a total of 597, two strokes off the 36-hole school record.

Cejnarova shot a 75 and freshman Megan Carter was one stroke back with a 76. Senior Maddy Silverman recorded an 82 during Monday's opening round.

The Terriers continued to set records in the second round, as all five golfers had a score under 80 for the first time in program history. Tillo once again led with a 75, followed by Tang and Cejnarova, who each fired a 77. Silverman shot a 78 while Carter carded a 79.

Tillo is fourth after two rounds while Tang sits in a tie for eighth and Cejnarova is tied for 12th. The Terriers are 11 strokes ahead of third-place Northern Colorado in the 11-team field.

BU will conclude the 54-hole tournament on Tuesday.
