WEST POINT, N.Y. - Battling for a shot at the No. 1 seed for the upcoming Patriot League tournament, the Boston University men's tennis team dropped a 4-1 decision at Army West Point on Sunday afternoon.

With their first loss of the season against a conference opponent, BU drops to 8-10 (3-1 PL), while the Black Knights improve to 15-7 (4-0 PL).

The doubles point for the second time this weekend proved to be critical after BU held off Lehigh a day prior, 4-1. The Terriers were either leading or tied in the last two singles matches against Army when play was halted due to the team result already being decided.

After claiming a 6-2 win in the No. 3 slot, Army earned the needed break at line 1 to edge junior Lucas Bombonatti and freshman Satyajit Simhadri, 6-4, for the early 1-0 lead. Juniors Jake De Vries and Jay Leelavanich were ahead, 5-4, at No. 2 when their match was called.

Leelavanich rolled to a 6-4, 6-2 win in the top slot, but the Black Knights posted straight-set victories at lines 2-4 for the team win. Junior Mario Sandoval (#5) was ahead, 7-6(6), 5-5, while De Vries (#6) was in a 6-4, 3-6, 1-1 deadlock.

The Terriers will next await their seed and compete in the Patriot League tournament at Lehigh on April 29-May 1.
