Women's Soccer Upends Loyola, 3-0, in Kick Out Cancer Game

BOSTON – Behind a balanced all-around effort and two goals from McKenna Doyle, the Boston University women's soccer team blanked Loyola, 3-0, Saturday afternoon in its Kick Out Cancer game.
Doyle scored twice in the second half, pushing in a pair of loose balls inside the six-yard box, while Anna Heilferty netted her team-best fifth goal of the season in the first half.
The Terriers also raised over $1400 for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

How it Happened
- Loyola got the opening two shots of the game off within the first 10 minutes, though Amanda Fay was there for the easy saves.
- After a quiet start on the attack, BU ramped up the pressure midway through the half, and Chelsea Churchill fired off a shot just inside the box that was blocked by a Loyola defender.
- Battling for possession, Christina Wakefield got a foot on the loose ball and pushed it towards Heilferty, who ripped a one-timer just inside the left post to put the Terriers on the board in the 27th minute.
- Working off a corner kick, McKenna Doyle also cashed in on a loose ball in the box, slipping in a shot from just inside the six-yard box to further BU's lead in the 56th minute.
- Doyle showed her nose for the goal again in the 68th minute, sliding in another loose ball inside the box to push the score to 3-0.
- Heilferty has 10 points over the last eight games and three goals over the last four.
- Wakefield has assisted on each of Heilferty's last two goals.
- BU won its fifth straight match against the Greyhounds and improved to 5-0-0 at home in the all-time series.
- Fay guided BU to its eighth shutout of the season, while Emma Heil closed out the last 10 minutes in net.
- BU's defense allowed Loyola to get only six shots off and recorded its eighth shutout of the season.
- The Terriers will embark on a two-game road swing, starting with a 7 p.m. matchup at Army on Wednesday, Oct. 18.
