No. 22 Terriers Blank Lehigh, 6-0, to Claim Third Straight PL Regular-Season TItle

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Junior Kara Enoch tallied a career-high five points (2g, 1a) and senior Grace Boston added a pair of goals to help the No. 22 Boston University field hockey team post a 6-0 road win over Lehigh on Saturday and clinch the Patriot League regular-season championship for the third straight season.

Senior Allie Renzi and freshman Ailsa Connolly also scored for the Terriers, who move to 10-6 overall and 5-0 in Patriot League play. BU has clinched the top seed for the league tournament, which it will host on Nov. 3 & 5 at New Balance Field.



How it Happened
  • The Terriers took a 2-0 halftime lead on goals from Boston and Enoch before erupting for four goals in the final 20 minutes of regulation to complete the decisive shutout.
  • Boston opened the scoring at the 15:23 mark with a reverse-stick shot in front of the cage after receiving a pass from freshman Kathryn Scheerer.
  • Enoch doubled the lead less than six minutes later off a corner with a shot from the top of the circle. Fellow junior Maika Akroyd assisted on the play.
  • Renzi gave BU a 3-0 cushion in the 51st minute when she followed up her own rebound and notched her fourth goal of the year.
  • Akroyd and Enoch teamed up once again in the 61st minute with the latter picking up her second tally of the contest with a low shot in front.
  • Less than three minutes later, Boston completed her two-goal performance, giving her six tallies on the season and bumping the BU lead to 5-0.
  • Connolly reached the 10-goal mark for her rookie campaign with 2:15 left in regulation as she took a feed from fellow freshman Miya Denison.
Game Notes
  • The Terriers outshot the Mountain Hawks, 23-7, and held a 3-2 edge in corners.
  • Fifteen of BU's shots were on goal as Paige Innarella made nine saves for Lehigh.
  • Freshman netminder Millie Baker played the first half for the Terriers and did not face a shot on goal.
  • Junior Kathleen Keegan stopped both shots she faced in the second half.
  • Enoch assisted on Boston's second goal to set her new career high for points with five.
  • BU is now a perfect 5-0 all-time against Lehigh with shutouts in each of the past four meetings.

  • BU will return to action on Tuesday (Oct. 24) when it makes a short trip to face No. 15 Harvard.
