LEWISBURG, Pa. - Despite posting a 15-5 advantage in shot attempts, the Boston University men's soccer team left Bucknell with a 0-0 draw on Saturday afternoon.
Though the Terriers were deprived of their fifth conference road win, the final result was a positive one, as they clinched a top-three seed for the upcoming Patriot League tournament for the third time in four years. They are currently in sole possession of first place at 19 points and can capture their second PL regular season title and No. 1 seed with a win next Friday (Nov. 3) against Colgate after Loyola (6-2-0 PL) lost Saturday to Lehigh (5-2-1 PL).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- During a counter in the 12th minute, BU drew the keeper Emmett Witmer off his line, but Bucknell's backline saved a hard shot attempt from freshman Toti Knutsson and forced sophomore Satchel Cortet to sail high his shot off the rebound.
- The Terriers entered the locker room in a 0-0 deadlock with a slight 3-2 advantage in shot attempts.
- Bucknell's Emmett Witmer earned his first save off junior Josh Barkoff's shot at 70:56.
- Knutsson and Cortet both had quality looks again in the 89th minute, but the first shot was blocked and the second went wide.
- BU dominated possession for most of the two overtime sessions, claiming a 6-2 advantage in shots after learing, 6-1, in the second half.
- Sophomore Michael Bernardi earned his lone save off a header at 95:33, as the Terriers walked away with their third draw of the season.
