Terriers Fall Late, 1-0, at Navy

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Boston University women's soccer team saw its five-game shutout streak snapped as Navy broke the stalemate in the 85th minute to drop the Terriers, 1-0, Saturday night at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility.

How it Happened
  • Rachel Bloznalis nearly put BU on the board in the 3rd minute with a header off a corner kick taken by Anna Heilferty, though Navy's Sydney Fortson prevented the early goal.
  • In the 35th minute, Shannon Keefe ripped BU's second shot on goal off, though that would be the Terriers final shot of the half.
  • BU came out attacking to open the second half, reeling off five shots over the first 17 minutes, including three on frame.
  • Amanda Fay halted an intense Navy attack in the 66th minute, making back-to-back saves to keep the scoreboard blank.
  • Navy would break through in the 85th minute as Ash Fairlow headed in her NCAA-leading seventh game-winning goal of the season.
Game Notes

  • The Mids snapped a six-game losing streak to the Terriers and earned their first win in the series since 2013.
  • Navy's score was the first goal BU allowed in 576:56 minutes and was the first time a Patriot League opponent has found the back of the net this season.

  • McKenna Doyle, Kiana Ghamarifard and Shannon Keefe led BU with three shots apiece.
From Coach Feldman
  • "It was a hard-fought game and we had our chances. We played with a great mentality. The second half got away from us as far as how we wanted to play to our strengths."
