Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

No. 15 Terriers Fall at No. 13 Northeastern, 6-1

BOSTON - The No. 15 Boston University men's ice hockey team dropped a 6-1 road decision to No. 13 Northeastern on Friday evening at Matthews Arena.

Sophomore Patrick Harper's goal 42 seconds into the second period cut Northeastern's lead to 2-1 but the Terriers could get no closer and fell to 4-6-1 overall and 2-3-1 in Hockey East play.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Northeastern's Lincoln Griffin tallied two goals and an assist and Adam Gaudette also found the back of the net twice to lead the Huskies to a home-and-home sweep following a 4-1 NU win at Agganis Arena on Nov. 4.
  • Stevens opened the scoring exactly three minutes into the game with a perfectly placed wrister from above the left circle before Gaudette made it 2-0 just over three minutes later.
  • The Terriers got back in the game when Harper scored on a delayed penalty in the opening moments of the second period.
  • With 3:30 left in the second period and Northeastern on the power play, Gaudette potted his second goal of the night to give Huskies a two-goal lead again at 3-1.
  • Griffin added another power-play goal at the 6:39 mark of the third before completing his three-point night just over seven minutes later with another tally to push the lead to 5-1.
  • A third NU power-play goal came from the stick of Bobby Hampton with 6.8 seconds left in regulation.

GAME NOTES

  • BU outshot Northeastern, 34-23, but came up empty on four power-play chances.
  • The Huskies had a 3-for-5 effort on the power play and got a 33-save effort from freshman Cayden Primeau.
  • Sophomore Jake Oettinger made 16 saves for the Terriers.
  • Redshirt sophomore Max Prawdzik made his collegiate debut, playing the final 6:05 and stopping one of the two shots he faced.
  • Senior Brien Diffley assisted on Harper's goal to collect his first point of the season.
