BOSTON – Redshirt sophomore Max Prawdzik turned in a 29-save shutout in his first collegiate start to help the No. 15 Boston University men's ice hockey team earn a 4-0 victory over No. 9/8 New Hampshire on Saturday evening at Agganis Arena.

Freshman Ty Amonte opened the scoring before sophomore Dante Fabbro and juniors Jordan Greenway and Bobo Carpenter all added goals to help the Terriers improve to 5-6-1 overall and 3-3-1 in Hockey East play. UNH moves to 6-3-1 with a 3-2-1 conference mark.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Some deft passing by senior Drew Melanson and sophomore Patrick Curry led to Amonte's goal, which came from the inner edge of the left circle midway through the opening period.
BU doubled its lead early in the second when Fabbro, from just inside the blue line along the right boards, threw a seeing-eye wrister towards the net that eluded UNH netminder Daniel Tirone at 2:59.
Prawdzik was forced to make his toughest saves in the middle period but continued to keep the visitors off the board.
Greenway potted a rebound at the right crease at the 8-minute mark of the third after freshman Brady Tkachuk was able to get the puck to the net by curling around the left post.
Carpenter capped the Terriers' four-goal effort when Tkachuk found him in the left slot with 6:31 to play.

GAME NOTES

BU held a 31-29 shot advantage and both teams went 0-for-4 on the power play.
The last BU netminder to record a shutout in a collegiate debut was Sean Fields against Merrimack on Nov. 4, 2000.
Prawdzik became the first Massachusetts-born goaltender to start a game for the Terriers since Rick DiPietro, who played one season (1999-00) before leaving to being his NHL career.
Carpenter's goal was his team-leading seventh of the season.
Freshman Cam Crotty blocked a team-high four shots.
Fabbro assisted on Greenway's goal for his second multi-point game of the season.
Tirone recorded 26 saves for the Wildcats before being replaced for the final 6:32 by Adam Clark, who stopped the only shot he faced.

UP NEXT

BU will be on the road for the next four games, beginning with a trip north next weekend to face Maine.
The teams will play in Orono on Friday (Nov. 17) at 7:30 p.m. before heading down to Portland for the series finale on Saturday at 7 p.m.
Friday's game will be televised on Fox College Sports.
