Terriers Drop 80-70 Decision at Harvard

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Contending in its third straight road game in a six-day span, the Boston University women's basketball team dropped an 80-70 decision to Harvard Tuesday night at Lavietes Pavilion.

How it Happened
  • Harvard took advantage of an early trio of BU turnovers to grab a 10-6 advantage midway through the first quarter.
  • Patriot League Rookie of the Week Katie Nelson heated up to close the quarter, ripping nine of BU's next 11 points to give the Terriers the early command, 17-12.
  • The Crimson shifted the momentum on its side to start the second, reeling off an 8-2 run to take its first lead of the game two minutes into the quarter.
  • Corrine Williams netted the next four points for the Terriers to knot it at 23-all with six minutes left before the half, though Harvard responded with a 7-2 run to head into the locker room with a 35-29 advantage.
  • Harvard stayed hot to start the second half, streaking a 16-6 run to lead 51-35 midway through the third quarter.
  • Williams sparked BU in the third as she netted seven points, including the last five of the quarter, but Harvard held the score in its favor at 60-46 heading into the fourth.
  • Payton Hauck opened the fourth with a drive through the lane before Williams and Naiyah Thompson drilled back-to-back 3-pointers buckets to reduce the deficit to two possessions, 54-60, with nine minutes to go.
  • Hauck converted on a runner in the lane to put BU within five with just over a minute left, but that would be the closest the Terriers would get.
