BOSTON – Sophomore Jordan Greenway and freshman Clayton Keller both scored in the final three minutes of regulation, but the No. 7 Boston University men's ice hockey team was unable to erase a 3-0 deficit and dropped a 3-2 decision to No. 14 Boston College on Friday night in a Hockey East semifinal contest at TD Garden.
THE RUNDOWN
Final Score: #14 Boston College 3, #7 Boston University 2
Records: BU (23-11-3), Boston College (21-14-4)
Location: TD Garden – Boston, Mass.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a scoreless first period that saw the Terriers outshoot the Eagles, 12-9, BC got on the board with a Julius Mattila marker 1:58 into the second stanza.
- The Eagles made it 2-0 with 6:39 left in the middle frame thanks to a shorthanded goal and then extended that advantage to 3-0 just 58 seconds into the final frame.
- BU had several good chances on a power play a little after the halfway point of the third period, but a lack of puck luck and a strong performance from Eagle netminder Joe Woll (42 saves) kept the Terriers off the board.
- The Terriers nearly got a goal back while shorthanded when Keller found Nick Roberto in front, but Woll denied the senior.
- BU pulled freshman Jake Oettinger in favor of an extra attacker with 3:46 remaining in regulation and it paid off when Greenway got BU on the board with 2:24 to play. Keller got a puck on goal and Greenway jammed home the rebound for his 10th goal of the season.
- Oettinger was once again pulled and once again the move paid dividends for BU when Keller ripped home his 20th goal of the campaign just 1:02 after Greenway's goal. Greenway and sophomore Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson both assisted on the marker.
- The Terriers had a golden chance again with an extra attacker in the waning seconds but Woll robbed Keller of an equalizer.

- Keller extended his point streak to eight games (6g, 6a) with his two-point night.
- Greenway has lit the lamp in two of the last three games and now has 30 points this season (10g, 20a).
- Oettinger made 32 saves for the Terriers.
- Friday night was the first time all season that BU ever trailed BC.
