HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Terriers struck first in the top of the second with sophomore Alexa Ponce singling to the outfield, taking second on a wild pitch and scoring on an errant throw from a BC infielder.
  • After stranding two runners on base in the bottom half, the Eagles led off the third with a single against freshman Lizzie Annerino before adding another runner against senior Makinna Akers with the help of a defensive error.
  • The Eagles advanced both runners with a double steal but senior Gabi Martinez got a pick off at third and later tagged out a runner at home with the help of a long throw from junior Emma Wong in right.
  • BU had an opportunity to extend the lead in the fourth against 2016 All-ACC member Jessica Dreswick by loading the bases on a hit-by-pitch, single and walk but hit into an inadvertent interference call at third to help BC escape with a one-run deficit.
  • BC hit three straight singles, including a pair of soft ones that managed to evade the Terriers' gloves, against Akers in the fifth and then used a two-out, two-RBI single from Tatiana Cortez to grab a 2-1 lead.
  • Winning their fifth straight in the series, the Eagles added an insurance score in the sixth against freshman Kali Magane with a triple and wild pitch.
  • BU drew a two-out walk in an attempt to mount a rally, but Jordan Weed ended the threat with the Eagles' ninth strikeout of the game.
NEXT UP
  • The Terriers will return home and resume Patriot League play against Army West Point in a three-game series starting on Saturday (April 15) at 12 p.m.
  • BU blanked the Black Knights, 9-0, in five innings to win the 2016 Patriot League title and automatic NCAA berth.
