ANNAPOLIS, Md. – After capturing a hard-fought doubles point in a tiebreaker, the No. 4 seed Boston University men's tennis team cruised through singles action to a 4-0 victory over No. 5 Colgate on Saturday morning at Navy's Tose Family Tennis Center.

MATCH NOTES
- In the first-ever Patriot League tournament meeting with the Raiders, the Terriers edged Colgate in doubles to grab the 1-0 lead.
- Senior Lucas Bombonatti and sophomore Satyajit Simhadri opened with a dominating 6-0 win at line 1, but Colgate rallied from an early deficit to edge seniors Mario Sandoval and Jake De Vries in the No. 2 slot, 7-5.
- The freshmen duo of J.P. Avila and Marc Sable faced a 4-1 deficit at line 3 but duplicated the Raiders' efforts and came from behind to post a thrilling 7-6(3) victory.
- Sandoval (#3) and De Vries (#4) spent little time thinking of their doubles loss and rolled to straight-set victories ... Sandoval posted a 6-4, 6-3 win, while De Vries earned a 6-3, 6-3 victory.
- Sable clinched the team win at No. 5, dropping just three games in a 6-3, 6-0 victory.
- Both Avila (#6) and Simhadri (#2) won their first set but their matches were called once BU reached four points.
- The Terriers have now won four straight against Colgate and will be making their third Patriot League semifinal appearance in the last four years.
NEXT UP
- BU will next face top-seed and defending conference champion Army West Point on Saturday (April 22) at 10 a.m.
- The Black Knights won an earlier regular season matchup at Lehigh, 4-1, and enter the contest following a 4-0 sweep over No. 8 Lafayette.
- The teams will meet for the first time ever in the PL tournament.
