BOSTON – Boosted by a pair of complete-game pitching performances and five extra-base hits, the Boston University softball team rolled to a doubleheader sweep over Holy Cross on Saturday afternoon at home.
Sophomore
Alex Heinen hit what proved to be a game-winning three-run homer in the fourth inning of a 4-1 game-one victory and then joined senior
Gabi Martinez in tallying three RBIs apiece for the 9-3 come-from-behind game-two win. Freshman
Kali Magane recorded a season-high eight strikeouts and was helped by senior
Makinna Akers in limiting the Crusaders (5-18, 2-3 PL) to a combined eight hits in 14 innings of work, as the Terriers improved to 10-20 and 2-3 in Patriot League action.

- BU tied the game one inning later when Schanda singled up the middle to plate senior Rachel Levine from second.
- Both Schanda and senior Moriah Connolly both swiped a bag and then scored on Martinez's two-RBI double to grab the lead for good.
- The Terriers added another run in the third with the help of an error in the outfield and singles from sophomore Emily Morrow and junior Kaitlin Sahlinger.
- BU put the game away in the sixth with three more runs off four hits, including a two-RBI single from Heinen and sacrifice fly from Morrow.
