MADISON, Wis. -
The Boston University men's cross country team continued its 2018 season on Saturday at NCAA Pre-Nationals, hosted by Wisconsin.

BU placed 27th in a competitive field that featured several of the top teams in the nation. The Terriers were 10th as a team through the first 2K and totaled 637 points.

"I'm happy with the performance, but I know we can do a lot better," head coach Paul Spangler said. "This was definitely a better performance than two weeks ago at Paul Short. Things started to click after that race. I told the team that you're going to get knocked down, and it's a matter of if you're going to stay down or get back up and fight. The next couple workouts went really well after that. They were confident that they were fit and ready to go, and today was a step forward."

Junior Paul Luevano paced the Terriers with a 63rd-place performance. He finished the 8K race in 24:49.1. He was followed by seniors Alexander Seal (25:07.9) and Johnny Kemps (25:14.5), who each finished in the top 130.

"Brett, Alex and Johnny did a great job," Spangler said. "I was really happy with the way they ran."

Redshirt sophomore Brett Davidson crossed the line in 25:24.8, followed by sophomore Scotti Hamilton (26:27.8), junior Greg Pelose (26:34.5) and freshman Joe Grandizio (27:27.6).

BU will now turn its attention to the Patriot League Championship, which will take place on Saturday, Oct. 27, at Bucknell.

"It will be a fun meet," Spangler said. "There are a lot of good teams in the conference. A lot will come down to who executes on race day. We've got some work to do. The talent's there to do well. It's just a matter of executing the plan and believing in yourself and your teammates."
