MADISON, Wis. - The Boston University women's cross country team continued its 2018 season on Saturday at NCAA Pre-Nationals, hosted by Wisconsin.
The Terriers finished 32nd in a competitive field that featured many of the nation's top teams. BU totaled 839 points.
Freshman
Jessica Kellar led the Terriers with a 108th-place performance thanks to a personal-best 6K time of 21:47.9. Kellar battled throughout the entire race and was within the top 100 through the first 4K.
"I thought Jessica did a great job up front to establish position early and PR on a pretty wet course," head coach
Paul Spangler said. "To be just outside the top 100 in a big meet like this as a freshman is great."

Sophomore
Corinne Batsu was next with a personal-best time of 22:22.8, followed by
Laura Parkinson (22:39.8), senior
Alicia Huerta (22:54.5) and junior
Coco Ocker (22:59.2). Senior
Dominique Betterbed recorded a personal-best 6K mark of 23:09.9 while junior
Abigail Gugel crossed the finish line in 23:31.3.
"It was good to see Crinne and Laura have good races after dropping out of Paul Short," Spangler said. "Laura did a good job of making adjustments and moving up after a mile. Today gives them some confidence going into the conference meet. We know we can run a lot better. It's just a matter of following the race strategy and getting out faster in the three, four and five spot."
BU will now turn its attention to the Patriot League Championship, which will take place on Saturday, Oct. 27, at Bucknell.
"It will be a fun meet," Spangler said. "There are a lot of good teams in the conference. A lot will come down to who executes on race day. We've got some work to do. The talent's there to do well. It's just a matter of executing the plan and believing in yourself and your teammates."
