CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - After guiding the Boston University women's soccer team to an epic 1-0 shutout over Navy, freshman Taylor Kofton and sophomore McKenna Kennedy have been recognized by the Patriot League, as Kofton was tabbed the Midfielder of the Week and Kennedy was honored as the Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Kofton provided the heroics in a back-and-forth matchup between the league's top two teams Friday night, netting the game-winning goal in the 88th minute that arced just under the crossbar. Kofton, who has six points over the last two games, has netted the last three goals for the Terriers with deadly accuracy, shooting .600 percent.
Kennedy was also stellar from the defensive end, holding the Mids' high-powered offense to just four shots, including one in the first half. With Friday's win, BU earned its fourth straight shutout and has not allowed a goal in 449 minutes.
