BOSTON - The top-seeded Boston University women's soccer team will open up its quest for its fourth Patriot League Tournament title as it hosts No. 6 Army West Point for a semifinal matchup on Friday, Nov. 2. First kick from Nickerson Field is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
TITLE CITY
- BU is 7-2 all-time in the Patriot League Tournament.
- The Terriers captured the league title in each of its first three seasons as a member of the Patriot League and have advanced to the semifinals in all six tournaments.
- Additionally, BU has claimed three regular season conference titles and will host the tournament for the first time since 2015.
DEFENDING THE HOME TURF
- BU has gone unbeaten in 48 straight home conference games.
- The streak, which dates back to 2007, is the longest undefeated in home conference games active streak in the NCAA.
SETTING THE SCORE
- BU posted an undefeated record in Patriot League games for the second time in program history with a 7-0-2 record.
- With Saturday's win at Colgate, BU clinched the outright Patriot League regular season for the second time, and won its third conference regular season title.
- In its 23 seasons competing within a conference, BU has posted nine undefeated regular seasons.
- Of the 31 conferences in the NCAA, BU was one of 10 teams to post an undefeated record in league games.
ALL-PATRIOT LEAGUE
- Head coach Nancy Feldman and Taylor Kofton took home a pair of Patriot League major awards on Monday, as Feldman was honored as the Coach of the Year, while Kofton was named the league's Rookie of the Year.
- Anna Heilferty and Dorrie Varley-Barrett each earned a spot on the First Time, Chelsea Churchill and Libby Closson were named to the Second Team, and Kofton was recognized on the Third Team.
PATRIOT LEAGUE DOMINANCE
- BU has dominated the Patriot League since entering the league in 2013, amassing a 43-5-6 record in regular season conference games.
STUFFING THE STAT SHEET
- Anna Heilferty leads the team in goals (5), assists (6), and points (16).
- Heilferty has posted at least one point in six of the last 10 games.
THE LAST LINE
- BU's backline guided the defense to eight shutouts and limited opponents to just 1.0 goals per game.
- The defense took it to the next level in conference play, limiting opponents to just 0.22 goals and 6.1 shots per game.
SHUT IT DOWN
- All seven of BU's conference wins have been via shutout.
- This marks the second straight season BU has shut out seven Patriot League opponents.
- Over its six years in the Patriot League, the Terriers have 35 shutouts in conference play, posting at least five each season.
DUAL THREATS
- Amanda Fay and Morgan Messner have split time in net this season, as Fay has started 10 games to Messner's nine starts.
- Messner was the lone goalkeeper in the league to not allow a goal during conference play.
LEADER OF THE PACK
- Head Coach Nancy Feldman has been at the helm of the program since its inception in 1995.
- Feldman has guided BU to 13 NCAA Tournament appearances, 13 conference regular season titles, and 12 conference tournament titles.
- Additionally, she has been an 11-time conference coach of the year.
- In 31 seasons as a head coach, Feldman owns a career record of 398-168-56.
- With two more wins, Feldman would become the 20th women's soccer coach in NCAA history to reach 400 career wins.
SCOUTING ARMY WEST POINT
- The Black Knights earned a dramatic 1-0 double overtime win at Navy to pick up its first win in the Patriot League Tournament since 2011.
- Erynn Johns delivered the game-winner in the 102st minute.
- Johns leads the team in assists (5) and points (11).
- Defensive standouts Sydney Witham and Sydney Cassalia earned All-Patriot League Honors, as Witham was named to the First Team and Cassalia grabbed a spot on the Second Team.
- Witham helped limit opponents to just 0.47 goals per game and chipped in two assists and one goal.
- Cassalia leads the league with 10 shutouts and ranks second with a .663 goals against average.
THE SERIES
- BU leads the all-time series, 5-0-2.
- The Terriers and Black Knights drew a 1-1 double overtime contest during the regular season matchup on Oct. 17.
- Two of the three matchups at Nickerson Field have resulted in 1-1 double overtime decisions.
