CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Ending a four-game road trip, the Boston University women's basketball team could not slow down Harvard's high-octane offensive assault, dropping a 67-45 decision Friday evening at Lavietes Pavilion.
The Crimson launched 30 of its 55 field goal attempts from 3-point range, connecting on 13 of those effirts. Conversely, the Terriers could not get into an offensive groove as it shot just 30.2 percent (16-of-53) for the game.
How It Happened
- Following a slow start, Harvard reeled off a 7-2 run to eke out a 12-6 edge midway through the opening frame.
- The Terriers clamped down on the defensive end down the stretch, limiting the Crimson to just one field goal over the final five minutes.
- Payton Hauck and Lauren Spearman each drove through the lane for layups to cut the deficit to 15-12 at the end of the first.
- Harvard extended its lead with a 5-0 run to kick off the second quarter until Naiyah Thompson knocked down back-to-back shots to put the game back within two possessions.
- BU went cold from the floor over the final six minutes of the opening half, missing its final 11 shots as Harvard pull ahead, 27-18.
- The Crimson exploded out of the break with an 8-2 run to push its command to 35-20.
- Harvard continued to press as BU's shooting woes continued, pushing its grip on the scoreboard to 55-29 as end of the third.
- Hauck carried BU in the fourth, notching 12 of its 18 points, but Harvard retained the hot hand to seal a 20-point victory.
Game Notes
- Irving grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds to go with 11 points for her second double-double of the season and the 10th of her career.
- Hauck led the team in scoring for the second straight game with 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting.
- The Terriers were held without a field goal for 14:26 between the second and third quarter.
