NORFOLK, Va. - Facing its first ranked opponent of the season, the Boston University women's tennis team fell at No. 44 Old Dominion, 7-0, on Friday afternoon.
The Monarchs (15-4) posted their third straight sweep and have now outscored opponents, 47-6, over the last eight matches, as the Terriers fell to 6-8.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- ODU won two doubles contests at lines 2 and 3 by identical scores of 6-1 to claim a 1-0 lead.
- The Monarchs then swept through singles action, claiming five points in straight sets.
- Junior Remi Ramos rallied from a set down at line 2 to force a third set but ultimately came up short, 6-2, 3-6, 10-8.
- Senior Iryna Kostirko won the second most games for BU in a hard-fought 6-4, 6-2 loss against former Junior Wimbledon participant, Holly Hutchinson, in the No. 1 slot.
- Junior Sophia Kryloff also won four games in the first set at line 6 but eventually fell, 6-4, 6-1.
NEXT UP: NORTH TEXAS
- The Terriers will wrap up their trip to Virginia against North Texas at ODU's Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.
- In the last meeting between the two programs, BU fell, 5-2, to the then-No. 70 Mean Green in 2015 at Harvard.
