BU Continues Spring Break Trip at Loyola Marymount Tuesday Afternoon

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – After claiming three wins at the San Diego Classic, the Boston University softball team will resume its spring break trip in California with a doubleheader at Loyola Marymount on Tuesday afternoon. First pitch is slated for 12 p.m. PT.

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • Coming off Sunday's 1-0 win over San Diego State and 4-1 loss to Oregon State, BU has earned a split in five previous doubleheaders, though Tuesday will be the first time the Terriers will face the same team twice on the same day.
  • The Terriers lead the Patriot League in hitting at .278 while ranking 78th nationally in doubles per game (1.31).
  • Junior Madi Killebrew ranks third in the PL at .386 avg. and 78th nationally in doubles per game at 0.46 ... Classmate Alex Heinen (.349 avg) ranks 59th at 0.38.
  • Both Heinen and senior Jilee Schanda (.295 avg) own a team-high eight RBIs apiece, while senior Brittany Younan (.304 avg) ranks ninth nationally with three triples.
  • BU's pitching staff ranks 44th with a 2.02 ERA and is holding opponents to a .269 hitting average.
  • Freshman Cali Dolfi (3-1, 1.82 ERA) was named PL Pitcher of the Week on Monday after collecting three victories this past weekend and holding opponents to just two earned runs in 20.2 innings.
  • Freshman Ali Dubois (3-2, 2.50 ERA) and sophomore Lizzie Annerino (1-2, 1.11 ERA) have combined for the other four victories this season.
  • Dolfi and Dubois both have a shutout this season, marking the first time since 2010 that BU had two freshman accomplish the feat.  
SCOUTING LMU
  • The Lions are 7-10-1 this season with a 3-1-0 home mark featuring victories over Hawaii (2x) and Weber State ... They also own wins against Utah and Santa Barbara.
  • LMU is looking to snap a five-game losing streak with losses to Stanford, Michigan, Florida, Fresno State and Weber State by a combined score of 34-9.
  • LMU is hitting .221 as a team and is holding opponents to .264.
  • Irma Sanchez is hitting a team-high .340 with six doubles and seven runs scored, while Andrea Gonzalez is second on the team at .286 ... They are joined by two others in posting six RBIs apiece.
  • Hannah Bandimere (5-3, 1.99 ERA) has pitched five complete games in nine starts and owns 37 strikeouts in 56.1 innings ... Linnay Wilson (2-4, 4.40) has made seven starts and owns 43 strikeouts in 43.0 innings.
SERIES HISTORY
  • The Terriers have played a doubleheader at LMU each of the last two seasons, posting a combined 1-3 record.
  • Last season, BU bounced back from a 6-2 loss with a 3-1 game-two victory ... Heinen hit a solo homer, and sophomore Kali Magane limited the Lions to five hits in a complete-game win.
  • Two years ago, BU dropped a pair of decisions, 3-1 and 6-5.
