BU Set to Host CCSU in Wednesday Afternoon Doubleheader

BOSTON – Looking to carry momentum from this past weekend's series win against defending Patriot League champion Lehigh, the Boston University softball team will resume non-conference play by hosting Central Connecticut State on Wednesday afternoon with the doubleheader set to begin at 2 p.m.

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • BU is 2-2 at home this season with two wins over Lehigh (5-0, 3-1) and a loss to both the Mountain Hawks (8-5) and Boston College (1-0) ... The Terriers are 7-3 in the last 10 contests with two of the losses finishing with one-run deficits.
  • The Terriers are hitting .275 while holding opponents to .258 ... Opponents own a 23-6 advantage in homers, but BU ranks fourth nationally in triples with 16 and has a 44-34 lead in doubles.
  • Senior Emma Wong leads BU in batting average at .348 with 25 runs scored, just two behind classmate Brittany Younan (.273).
  • Both juniors Alex Heinen (.344 avg.) and Madi Killebrew (.336 avg.) are hitting over .300 and have combined for 19 doubles with Heinen owning a PL-high 28 RBIs.
  • Senior Jilee Schanda (.270 avg.) batted .400 this past weekend with two doubles.
  • Freshman Ali Dubois (14-6, 2.17 ERA) has gone the distance nine times in 21 starts and is holding opponents to .233 ... Freshman Cali Dolfi (4-7, 2.30 ERA), sophomore Lizzie Annerino (1-3, 2.80 ERA) and sophomore Kali Magane (1-1, 4.20 ERA) have all started at least four contests this season.
SCOUTING CCSU
  • The Blue Devils are 14-20 this season after going 15-24 last year ... They're coming off Tuesday's 2-0 nine-inning loss to Holy Cross after they claimed a DH sweep against LIU Brooklyn by a combined score of 23-5 over the weekend.
  • They've claimed wins against Yale, Sacred Heart and Siena while also dropping hard-fought decisions to Michigan State (5-4), Boston College (1-0) and Dartmouth (1-0) ... They also lost to PL member Lehigh, 5-1, in Florida.
  • CCSU is hitting .271 as a team while holding opponents to .274 and has outscored opponents by a combined 22 runs despite the losing record.
  • Brittany Camara leads the Blue Devils at .328 with a team-high six doubles, 11 stolen bases and 21 RBIs, while Sydney Bolan is hitting .327 with six homers and 15 RBIs ... Lex Debrosse (.317 avg.) owns five homers and 20 RBIs as well.
  • Emily Sargent (7-8, 2.83 ERA) has pitched 13 complete games in 16 starts, while Peyton Silverman (4-5, 2.03 ERA) has gone the distance eight times in nine starts.
SERIES HISTORY
  • The Terriers are 14-3 all-time against CCSU following last month's 6-2 road victory.
  • Schanda had a pair of RBI doubles and a sac fly ... Dubois tallied eight strikeouts against five hits allowed for the win.
  • Last season, BU rebounded from a 3-1 loss with a 5-1 win for the doubleheader split.
