BOSTON – Riding a season-high nine-game win streak, the Boston University softball team will open a seven-game homestand against fellow Patriot League member Lafayette with Saturday's doubleheader slated to begin at 12 p.m. The teams will wrap up the series on Sunday with another 12 p.m. start.
Fans will be able to watch all of Saturday's action on the
Patriot League Network.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU is currently first in the Patriot League at 7-2 following last weekend's sweep at Holy Cross and a pair of wins against Lehigh (home) and Army West Point (away) ... The Terriers have little room for error, though, as Bucknell is right behind at 9-3 and will be playing at Colgate (3-6) this weekend before visiting Commonwealth Ave. next weekend.
- The Terriers are 4-2 at home with the other two wins coming against Central Connecticut State.
- During the win streak, the Terriers are batting a stellar .346 while holding opponents to .219 ... They've claimed seven of their 13 homers this season during the stretch as well.
- Reigning PL Player of the Year and senior Jilee Schanda (.309 avg.) has led the Terriers batting .517 in nine contests with 11 runs, four doubles, two triples and a homer.
- Junior Alex Heinen (.375 avg.) has posted a .485 average ahead of classmate Madi Killebrew's (.343 avg.) .414 average ... The two have combined for 23 RBIs with Killebrew recording three homers.
- Senior Emma Wong (.355) leads the Terriers with 37 runs scored, just ahead of classmate Brittany Younan's (.279 avg.) 35 runs with the two posting a combined 14 triples.
- The Terriers own a .969 fielding percentage with opponents doubling BU in errors, 80-40.
- Freshman Ali DuBois (19-6, 2.02 ERA) has gone the distance four times in six starts during the win streak and has tallied 49 strikeouts in 44.1 combined innings of work with opponents batting .176.
- Freshman Cali Dolfi (4-7, 2.61 ERA), sophomore Kali Magane (3-1, 3.67 ERA) and sophomore Lizzie Annerino (1-3, 3.14 ERA) have combined for the other 17 starts.
SCOUTING LAFAYETTE
- The Leopards are playing their best softball over the past week, having won three of the last five games with a weekend series victory at Colgate (5-8, 3-0, 6-5) and doubleheader split at Manhattan (3-7, 6-1) ... They also own wins against Brown (13-3), Rider (7-6) and Holy Cross (13-4) and St. Peter's (8-5).
- Lafayette is 1-13 this in true road victories with the lone win coming against Manhattan.
- Lafayette is batting .222 and holding teams to .354 with opponents owning a 76-48 lead in doubles and 24-19 edge in homers.
- Maddie Wensel is the lone Leopard at .300 with five homers and 18 RBIs with Paige Grover (.282 avg.) close behind thanks to a team-high nine doubles, seven homers and 19 RBIs ... Brooke Wensel (.259 avg.) owns three homers and 18 RBIs, while Miranda Skurla (.257 avg.) has 19 RBIs.
- Alexis Randall (5-13, 5.28 ERA) has gone the distance six times in 15 starts and owns the team's lone shutout and save with 28 strikeouts in 103.1 innings ... Hannah Cook (2-7, 5.28 ERA) and Stacy Gordon (0-12, 7.66 ERA) own 12 starts apiece.
