LEWISBURG, Pa. – After winning a hard-fought doubles point, the Boston University men's tennis team claimed three singles points in straight sets to end the regular season with a 4-1 victory at Bucknell.
Winning the first meeting against the Bison (5-21, 2-5 PL) since being eliminated in the 2016 PL Quarterfinals, the Terriers improve to 13-11 and 3-2 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- BU jumped out to a 1-0 lead by winning the No. 2 and 3 doubles matches after the Bison edged the Terriers in the No. 1 slot, 6-4.
- Freshmen Ethan Kolsky and Owen Lu posted a 7-5 win at line 3, while freshman Pete Siozios and junior Satyajit Simhadri edged Bucknell, 7-6(4), in a No. 2 tiebreaker.
- Freshman Pedro Gutierrez dropped the fewest games with a dominating 6-1, 6-1 victory at line 4.
- Siozios rolled to a 6-3, 6-1 win in the No. 5 slot, and Simhadri topped Bucknell at line 1 in straight sets, 7-5, 6-3.
- Bucknell posted a 6-0, 6-1 victory at line 3 to avoid the shutout.
- The Terriers won a set in the No. 2 and 6 matches before they were halted.
NEXT UP: PATRIOT LEAGUE TOURNAMENT
- After finding out their seed, the Terriers will head to Colgate to participate in the Patriot League tournament on April 27-29.
- BU has reached the semifinals three out of the last four years.
