Terriers Claim 5-1 Win against Sacred Heart

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Boston University men's tennis team opened its weekend trip to the state of Connecticut with a 5-1 win over Sacred Heart on Saturday evening.

The Terriers captured five of the six singles, including three in straight sets, to move above .500 for the season at 10-9.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The teams did not compete in doubles and went straight to singles action.
  • Freshmen Ethan Kolsky (#3), Pete Siozios (#4) and sophomore Marc Sable (#5) all dropped just seven games apiece in their respective singles match with both Kolsky and Sable winning a second-set tiebreaker.
  • Freshman Pedro Gutierrez rallied from a set down to post a 5-7, 6-0, 10-8 win at line 2.
  • Sophomore J.P. Avila claimed another point at line 6 by holding off Sacred Heart for a 7-5, 2-6, 15-13 win.
  • Junior Satyajit Simhadri tried to mount a rally at No. 1 singles, but the Pioneers avoided the sweep by winning the super tiebreaker for a 6-3, 1-6, 10-7 victory.
NEXT UP: UCONN
  • The Terriers will visit UConn on Sunday (April 8) at 4 p.m.
  • The Huskies won last year's matchup, 4-3.
