BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Boston University women's cross country team finished third in its 6K race at the Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh on Saturday afternoon.
The Terriers combined for 281 points, just one point behind the second-place school. Siena won with a score of 109 points.
Freshman
Jessica Kellar continued her strong debut season with a 36th-place performance. She crossed the line with a time of 22:40, the second-fastest effort from a freshman in that race.
"I thought they did a solid job," head coach
Paul Spangler said. "It wasn't our best race, but we had some athletes step up. Jessica went after it from the beginning and held on to run well."Â
Senior
Alicia Huerta (22:50) and junior
Coco Ocker (22:52) were both not far behind, as Huerta finished 45th and Ocker took 49th.
"I thought Coco ran great," Spangler said. "That was a really big breakthrough race for her."

Senior
Dominique Betterbed finished 75th with a time of 23:15, followed by junior
Abigail Gugel in 83rd (23:23). Freshman
Stephanie Casaletto completed the course in 23:39, with senior
Elin Wolker (23:45) and sophomore
Stephanie Forbes (24:04) also racing.
"It's nice to leave with some hardware," Spangler said. "It gives us some confidence, and we still know that we can run better than we did."
BU will return to Franklin Park on Saturday, Oct. 6, when the Terriers compete in the New England Championships.
