Kofton Strikes Twice to Lead Terriers Past Lafayette, 2-0

BOSTON – Behind freshman Taylor Kofton's first career brace, the Boston University women's soccer team posted its third straight shutout as it blanked Lafayette, 2-0, Saturday afternoon at Nickerson Field.

Kofton headed in her first career goal in the 28th minute off a corner kick before scoring in the exact same fashion in the 63rd minute. On the defensive end, BU limited the Leopards to just four shots, three of which were blocked, en route to its fifth clean sheet of the season.

How It Happened
  • BU held the possession advantage to open the half, finally breaking through with back-to-back looks on frame by Anna Heilferty and Dorrie Varley-Barrett in the 21st and 22nd minute.
  • Working off a corner kick in the 28th minute, Pietra Sweeney served a ball towards the back of the box, where Kofton elevated over a defender and headed in her first career goal to put the Terriers on the board.
  • BU's defense dominated through the first half, as the Leopards were unable to get a shot off until the 49th minute, which was blocked by McKenna Kennedy.
  • Kofton wasn't done with finding the back of the net, as she worked another headed off a corner to slip in her second score of the day in the 63rd minute.
  • The Terriers continued to control possession to close out the game, finishing with a 24-4 advantage and a 13-2 command in corner kicks.
