Lehigh Edges Women's Soccer, 1-0

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Picking up the season after a week off from action, the Boston University women's soccer team fell 1-0 to Lehigh Saturday afternoon at the Ulrich Sports Complex.

How It Happened
  • Ashley Buck nearly put the Terriers on the board in the 10th minute, heading a service off a corner kick by Anna Heilferty, just missing the frame.
  • Lehigh had a similar chance in the 23rd minute, sending a header of its own off a corner kick towards the inside post, but Chloee Sagmoe stepped up for the defensive save.
  • Working off a free kick, Lehigh's Ryelle Shuey drove a shot towards the left-side post, but Mary Casey redirected the shot in the opposite direction to put the Mountain Hawks on the board with five minutes left in the first half.
  • Lehigh nearly struck again just three minutes later, but Amanda Fay made a diving one-handed save to keep it a one-goal deficit at the half.
  • Shannon Keefe had a breakaway chance in the 58th minute, but Miranda Royds held her post to prevent the equalizer.
  • McKenna Kennedy had the final chance for the Terriers, ripping a shot from the right side of the six-yard box, but Royds preserved the shutout.
