Chris Gray recorded nine points and freshman
Timmy Ley notched a career-high five goals to help lead the Boston University men's lacrosse team to a 15-8 victory over Dartmouth on Saturday afternoon at Nickerson Field.
BU (2-1) held a 6-0 lead after the first quarter and never looked back to win its fifth straight home opener. All nine of Gray's points (3g, 6a) came in the first half, as did all five of Ley's markers.

James Burr matched
Jack Wilson's program record for career goals when he collected the 108th goal of his career. Burr's hat trick also extended his goal-scoring streak to 20 games.

Brendan Homire tallied twice in the second half as part of a three-point day. Senior
Michael Laviano, playing for the first time since the final game of the 2017 season, matched his career high with two assists in his return to the Terrier midfield. Freshman

Michael Doxie both found the back of the net while sophomore
Sean Christman recorded an assist in addition to going 4-of-5 at the faceoff X.
Sophomore
Kevin Snyder was outstanding for the Terriers at the faceoff X, winning a career-high 14 of the 21 draws he took along with five ground balls. Junior
Chase Levesque also collected five ground balls. Freshman
Will Carson caused two turnovers and added one ground ball in his first collegiate start at close defense.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- BU staked itself a 6-0 lead after 15 minutes thanks to three goals from Ley.
- Ley matched a program record for fastest goal to start a game when sophomore Sean Christman won the opening faceoff, raced into the box and found Ley for the goal.
- Doxie got on the board 3:01 later to make it 2-0 before Ley and Burr scored just 26 seconds apart to make it 4-0.
- Collins and Ley then scored in a span of 35 seconds to make it 6-0 with 3:17 to go in the quarter.
- Ben Martin opened the scoring for Dartmouth just 29 seconds into the second quarter, but Gray responded quickly with goals at 13:36 and 13:09 to make it 8-1.
- Ley followed Gray's markers just over a minute later with his fourth of the game to make it 9-1.
- Dartmouth made it 9-3 before Ley and Gray each scored to push the lead to 11-3.
- Three straight Big Green goals cut the deficit to 11-6, but Burr closed the half with his second of the afternoon to make it 12-6.
- Both teams secured a goal in the third quarter, with Homire's first goal of the season coming with 49.3 seconds on the clock to give BU a 13-7 lead.
- Martin's second strike of the game 37 seconds into the final quarter got Dartmouth within five at 13-8.
- Homire factored on the final two goals of the game, scoring with 5:53 to go after a terrific dodge before assisting on Burr's 11th goal of the year with 4:27 remaining in regulation.
GAME NOTES
- Sophomore Joe McSorley made four saves.
- BU finished the day 18-of-26 (69.2%) at the faceoff X.
- Ley added a career-high three ground balls as part of his excellent day.
- Christman, Homire and junior Reece Eddy also had three ground balls apiece.
- BU was 14-of-15 in the clearing game, including a perfect 5-of-5 in the opening half.
