MIAMI, Fla. – Facing a conference champion for the second consecutive day following a win over the Big Sky's Idaho, the Boston University women's tennis team came up short at Conference USA's Florida International, 4-0, on Wednesday afternoon.
The Panthers (10-4) won two of the three doubles matches for the first point and then claimed three singles points in straight sets against the Terriers (5-6).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Sophomore Emily Kim and freshman Shelly Yaloz posted a 6-2 win at line 2 in doubles, but FIU earned a 6-1 victory in the No. 3 slot to keep the first point up for grabs.
- FIU jumped out to a 1-0 advantage by edging senior Remi Ramos and sophomore Lily Burchell, 6-4.
- The Panthers dropped just three games at No. 3 singles and then four total at both lines 4 and 6 for the 4-0 team victory.
- Ramos was leading Maryna Veksler at No. 1 (7-5, 2-1) when her match was halted.
- Yaloz won the second most games in the No. 2 slot for BU with a 7-5, 3-2 deficit.
