CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Competing in its fourth match in five days, the Boston University women's tennis team fell at No. 27 Miami, 4-0, on Friday afternoon.
The Hurricanes (10-3) won two doubles matches by a combined score of 12-2 and then captured three singles in straight sets, as the Terriers dropped to 5-7.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Miami posted a 6-0 win at line 1 doubles and captured the first point following a 6-2 victory in the No. 3 slot.
- Sophomore Emily Kim and freshman Shelly Yaloz were in a 3-3 battle with the No. 44 nationally-ranked duo Davenia Achong/Daniella Roldan when their match was halted.
- The nation's No. 2 singles player Estela Perez-Somarriba posted a 6-1, 6-2 win in the top singles slot to lead the Hurricanes.
- Miami added two more points in straight sets at lines 5 and 6 for the team victory.
- Kim had just won her first set in a tiebreaker (7-5) in the No. 3 slot when her match was halted.
