HOW IT HAPPENED
- Lehigh scored the first two goals of the game to grab a 2-0 lead at 9:22 of Q1.
- A defensive battle ensued for the next nine minutes until the Terriers rattled off two goals in an 18-second span.
- Burr began the run with a great shot off a feed from Gray with 29 seconds to play in the quarter.
- Sophomore Sean Christman won the ensuing faceoff and the Terriers called timeout to draw up a play that led to their second goal.
- Ley, stationed at the crease, caught a pass from Homire and went to the front of net before scoring his 20th goal of the year with 11 seconds remaining.
- Cates gave BU its first lead of the game at 13:25 of the second quarter after he shrugged off a check and ripped home his 10th goal of the year.
- The Mountain Hawks tallied three straight goals to take a 5-3 lead at 8:52.
- BU closed the quarter with two consecutive goals, the first coming when Laviano drew a double team and found Burr for a step-down shot.
- Gray then evened the score with 1:26 on the clock. Junior Jared Nugent set a pick to free up space for Gray, who took advantage to send the teams to the break all even.
- Lehigh took advantage of a questionable call to open the third-quarter scoring. A bad Mountain Hawk pass was ruled to be a shot, which kept their possession alive and eventually resulted in a goal.
- The Mountain Hawks then tallied two more unanswered goals to make it 8-5 with 7:49 left in the third quarter.
- Lehigh scored two more goals in the final minute of the quarter to take a 10-5 lead into the final frame.
- BU needed just 11 seconds to open the scoring in the fourth quarter. Sophomore Kevin Snyder won a faceoff and got it forward to the Terrier attackers, with Gray eventually finding Burr for the goal.
- Nugent thought he scored on a crease dive moments later, but his goal was waved off by the officials.
- Gray's dive on a man-up chance counted, however, to cut the deficit to 10-7 at 11:17,
- The sophomore then converted a feed from Homire to make it a 10-8 game with 10:25 to play.
- BU had several chances to continue to climb back into the game, but Lehigh goalkeeper James Spence made three saves in the final frame to help Lehigh hang onto its lead.
