BOSTON – Seeking its first Patriot League title, the fifth-seeded Boston University men's tennis team will open the conference tournament against No. 4 Bucknell on Friday with action slated to begin at 11 a.m. at Army West Point's Malek Tennis Center.

In the event of inclement weather, competition will move indoors to Army's Lichtenberg Tennis Center.

The Terriers enter the event at 8-15 with a 3-4 mark against Patriot League competition. They posted wins over No. 6 Colgate, No. 8 Lafayette and No. 9 Holy Cross by a combined score of 12-0 and fell to the top four seeds by a combined score of 16-7, including last Saturday's hard-fought 4-3 loss to Bucknell (12-12, 5-3 PL).

The Terriers are 4-1 all-time in the Patriot League quarterfinals and will be facing the Bison for the second time since dropping a 4-3 decision in 2015. Bucknell prevailed that year by capturing the doubles point and three singles points, including the clincher in three sets.

Last weekend, BU won the doubles point but fell in three three-set singles matches. Following Saturday's win over BU, the Bison fell to Lehigh, 4-2, in a battle for the No. 3 seed.

Seven Terriers have claimed double-digit singles victories this season with sophomore David Bogatin leading the way at 12. Classmate Pete Siozios has been the most consistent in the spring with a 10-6 record, including an 8-3 mark at the No. 3 slot and 4-1 record against PL competition. 2018 All-PL honoree Owen Lu has earned five of his 11 singles wins at line 1, and junior Marc Sable is second on the team with three wins in conference matchups.

In doubles action, head coach Dejan Sthankovic has used 14 total combinations during the dual season. Bogatin and Lu own a 5-5 record in the top slot and are 8-7 overall together. Junior J.P. Avila and freshman Max Hartenstein have teamed for a 6-3 record at line 2, while freshman Max Stehling has combined for an 8-8 record at line 3 with both Siozios and sophomore Ethan Kolsky.

The winner of Friday's match will face either No. 1 Navy or No. 8 Lafayette (Thursday winner over Holy Cross) on Saturday in the semifinals at 10 a.m. The last two remaining teams will face off for the automatic NCAA berth Sunday at 12 p.m.
