No. 8 BU to Face No. 3 Northeastern Tuesday Night on NESN

The No. 8 Boston University women's ice hockey team will travel to Matthews Arena to face No. 3 Northeastern on Tuesday night in a game that will be televised live on NESN. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Fans outside New England will be able to watch the game on CBS All-Access. This is the first of three straight games that the Terriers will play on NESN or NESNplus.

THE TWO BEST TEAMS IN HOCKEY EAST
- Tuesday's tilt features the top two teams in Hockey East.
- BU is in second place with 27 points while Northeastern is first with 36 points.
- This is a huge game for the Terriers in terms of extending their lead over third-place Boston College, as the Eagles are at 26 points and have played two more games than BU.
- In addition, this game has national implications as BU is eighth in the PairWise rankings while Northeastern is fourth.
TUESDAYS ARE FOR THE TERRIERS
- BU is 2-0-0 this season on Tuesday night, having defeated Yale, 3-1, on Nov. 12 as well as Harvard, 6-2, on Nov. 19.
- This is the first of three straight Tuesday tilts for BU, which will host the 42nd annual Women's Beanpot on Feb. 4 and 11.
HISTORY WITH THE HUSKIES
- The Terriers are 31-22-8 all-time against the Huskies, including an 11-10-3 mark at Matthews Arena.
- BU has taken at least one point from the Huskies in each of its 15 seasons at the Division I level.
- Four of the teams' last five meetings have been decided by one goal or fewer and eight of the last 10 meetings have been decided by two goals or fewer.
BEST OF BU AGAINST THE HUSKIES
- Jesse Compher and Sammy Davis each have two goals and five assists against Northeastern while Abby Cook has provided four helpers.
- Nara Elia leads the Terriers with three goals against the Huskies.
- Mackenna Parker, Kristina Schuler and Natasza Tarnowski have each notched one goal and one assist while Breanna Scarpaci and Abbey Stanley have two assists apiece.
SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
- Northeastern has won six straight games, five of which came via shutout.
- Vermont was the first team to score on the Huskies in nearly 315 minutes when the Catamounts got on the board in Northeastern's 10-2 win on Saturday.
- Sophomore Alina Mueller leads the conference and is sixth in the nation with 44 points.
- Mueller is also third in the nation and first in Hockey East with 29 assists.
- Sophomore Chloe Aurard is second in the league with 17 goals, including a hat trick on Saturday.
- Senior Aerin Frankel is second in the NCAA in both save percentage (.960) and goals-against average (1.02).
- Frankel is tied for the NCAA lead with eight shutouts.
STAYING CLOSE TO HOME
- The Terriers will play at least one home game every week during the second semester.
- Tuesday's contest will conclude their only stretch of two straight road games this semester.
RECAPPING THE MERRIMACK SERIES
- BU took three of four points from Merrimack this past weekend, skating to a 1-1 home tie on Friday night before earning a 6-3 road win on Saturday.
- Redshirt senior Abbey Stanley scored the Terriers' goal on Friday, with seniors Deziray De Sousa and Breanna Scarpaci providing the assists.
- Six different Terriers scored on Saturday, including De Sousa, who chipped in an assist for a two-point day.
- Redshirt senior Sammy Davis matched a career high with three assists.
- Senior Abby Cook and junior Nara Elia also had a goal and an assist.
- Freshmen Julia Nearis and Nadia Mattivi lit the lamp, as did senior Natasza Tarnowski.
- Sophomore Kate Stuart made 23 saves on Friday while junior Corinne Schroeder stopped 13 shots on Saturday.
SPREADING THE WEALTH
- Seven different Terriers scored a goal this past weekend, including six in Saturday's 6-3 win.
- It was the first time since a 7-2 triumph at Vermont on Feb. 1, 2019, that six different BU skaters scored in the same game.
- Fourteen different Terriers have notched a goal this season, including 11 of the team's top-12 forwards.
- Eighteen different Terriers have recorded at least one point over the last four games, including 11 different goal scorers.
- During that span, the Terriers have 30 player-games with at least one point, which ranks second only behind Northeastern's 36.
DEFENSE IS STINGY
- BU has allowed just 1.64 goals per game, which is fourth-best in the country and second-best in Hockey East.
- At even strength (not including empty-netters), BU gives up just 1.04 goals per game.
DEZ KEEPS DELIVERING
- Senior Deziray De Sousa has been outstanding over the last five games.
- She has tallied six points (3g, 3a) in that span, including a goal and an assist on Saturday at Merrimack.
- Her goal at Merrimack proved to be the game-winner.
- De Sousa has scored two winners and assisted on a third over the last five games, and she has factored on seven total game-winning goals this season.
- She scored a career-high two goals, including the eventual game-winner, in a 4-1 win over Holy Cross on Jan. 17.
- De Sousa enters Tuesday with 15 points (5g, 10a).
- Her 10 assists is a career high and the 15 points matches her career best that she set last season.
COOKIN' UP SOME GOALS
- Senior Abby Cook notched a goal and an assist on Saturday at Merrimack.
- She has scored seven goals and ranks second on the Terriers in both assists (14) and points (21).
- Only two other league defenders have recorded more points than Cook this season, though Cook does lead all Hockey East blue liners in goals, assists and points on the power play, as well as game-winning goals.
- Cook has also blocked 30 shots and is a plus-9 this year.
